Following are activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Friday, Jan. 31: At 10:19 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to a door, window and the yard at a residence in the 500 block of W. Washington St. An officer began an investigation of a violation of a no contact order at that location. At 2:40 pm a complainant reported harassment regarding a recent criminal case that originated in the 600 block of N. Wilson earlier in the week. An investigation was initiated.
Thursday, Jan. 30: At 5:26 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to fencing at a residence in the 400 block of S. Locust St. Jesse Lynn Crawford, 27, of Jamaica has been charged with burglary- first degree, class C felony, assault with a dangerous weapon-aggravated misdemeanor, and felon in possession of a firearm, class D felony.* The charges come from an incident 01/29 at a residence in the 600 block of N. Wilson.
Wednesday, Jan. 29: At 3:08 pm a resident reported a male intruder at a home in the 600 block of N. Wilson had displayed a hand gun and demanded to know the whereabouts of another male. The intruder left after he was told the occupants did not have that information. The incident remains under investigation. At 8:39 pm a complainant reported an unattended fire in a driveway in the 900 block of W. Harrison St. The officer spoke to the resident and had him extinguish the fire. At 8:58 pm a complainant reported a bicycle had been moved and tampered with in the 600 block of N. Chestnut St.
Tuesday, Jan. 28 At 12:12 am an officer was requested at Sparky’s One Stop on Highway 30 for a male and female reported to be causing a disturbance in the store. See the News page for details, or use the search tool (enter Boudewyn or Lampe).
Monday, Jan. 27: At 3:16 pm an officer was requested at The Gardens to take a report of a lost or stolen item.
Sunday, Jan. 26: At 1:20 pm the Coon Rapids police department requested an officer’s assistance with an interview of a Jefferson resident. At 8:24 pm a complainant reported a burglary to a shed in the 300 block of N. Oak St. Two ceramic figurines were reported to have been taken.
Saturday, Jan. 25: At 10:12 pm an officer was advised that a vehicle had struck a house at 100 S. Walnut St. Scott Harmer, 45, of Jefferson was westbound on Lincoln Way. Harmer told the officer he had been coughing and had lost consciousness. Harmer’s 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck left the roadway, striking a tree and fire hydrant in the 600 block of W. Lincoln Way. Harmer’s vehicle continued southeast and struck the residence, causing an estimated $30,00 in damage to the residence and a vehicle inside the garage. Damage to Harmer’s vehicle exceeded value. Harmer was charged with operating a motor vehicle (OWI)-first offense and failure to maintain control. *
Friday, Jan. 24: At 3:07 pm an officer arrested Paul Oyres at a residence in the 600 block of N. Wilson on an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic abuse assault-second offense.* At 5:04 pm Stacy Henson reported she had been involved in a minor collision in the Kum and Go parking lot. She reported she and the other driver had exchanged information and left the scene. Henson requested the officer complete a report. At 9:51 pm a resident reported a house fire at 602 S. Oak St.

Wednesday, Jan. 22: At 8:27 pm an employee at Kum & Go reported a male had entered the store and taken seven frozen pizzas and ran from the store without paying for them. A suspect has been identified. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. As a result of an investigation initiated 1/18 in the 400 block of N. Pinet St warrants have been issued charging Jarrett Allan Long, 23, of Grand Junction with willful injury- class D felony, assault- aggravated misdemeanor, assault- serious misdemeanor, and trespass- serious misdemeanor.*
Tuesday, Jan. 21: At 7:40 am an officer investigated a vehicle collision in the 500 block of S. Vine St. Scott Hebenstreit was southbound when he sideswiped a parked vehicle owned by James Shahan. Hebenstreit was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to his 2006 Mercedes Benz ML350 was estimated at $2,800. Damage to Shahan’s 2008 Nissan Sentra was estimated at $650. At 9:09 am Jefferson Telecom reported damage to a fiber optic pedestal in the alley behind the 400 block of W. Reed St. It appeared a vehicle had struck the pedestal causing $990 in damage. The incident remains under investigation. At 11:40 am a resident reported a caller who told him he won $1 million. All he had to do was send a fee to pay a portion of the taxes and the money would be sent to him. The resident recognized this as a scam and did not incur a loss. At 5:33 pm St Anthony Medical Center in Carroll reported an alleged domestic abuse assault that would have occurred at a residence in the 500 block of W. Washington in Jefferson earlier in the day. An investigation was initiated.
Monday, Jan. 20: At 1:30 pm a resident reported a fox in the yard in the 800 block of S. Elm St. At 2:08 pm a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 400 block of N. Pinet. At 5:10 pm an officer was advised of a hit and run accident on Highway 25 approximately three miles south of Scranton. A description of a pickup truck and driver were given to the officer. A motorist located the vehicle on West Lincoln Way and followed it to the downtown area, where an officer attempted to stop it. The vehicle stopped for the officer in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. The driver was transported to Greene County Medical Center for evaluation for possible injuries. Upon his release, the officer arrested Michael Joseph Hofbauer, 30, of Coon Rapids for driving while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense and serious injury by motor vehicle- class D felony.*
Sunday, Jan. 19: An arrest warrant has been issued for Kathleen Specht of Jefferson charging her with theft-fourth degree* in connection with a theft of mail order merchandise reported 1/14.
Saturday, Jan. 18: At 1:56 pm a complainant reported an assault at a residence in the 400 block of N. Pinet St. The officer is investigating.
Friday, Jan. 17: At 11:26 pm an officer assisted the Curt Forbes Residential Center in locating a client who needed to check in with the facility.
Thursday, Jan. 16: At 3:05 pm an officer arrested William Lawrence, 42, of Jefferson at a residence in the 300 block of N. Olive St on a warrant for theft of services-fifth degree.* Lawrence is alleged to have illegally obtained electrical service. At 4:48 pm an officer investigated a collision at the intersection of N. Oak and W. Adams St. Michael Wells was northbound on Oak. Christy Rivera was eastbound on Adams. Their vehicles collided in the intersection. Damage to Wells’ 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck exceeded its value. Damage to Rivera’s 1999 GMC Sierra was estimated at $7,000. Rivera was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right.
Wednesday, Jan. 15: At 1:15 pm the Department of Human Services referred a complaint to the JPD of an alleged sex assault of a 4-year-old at a residence in the 700 block of N. Cedar. An investigation was initiated. At 4 pm the Marion police department referred to an officer a child pornography case that originated at a Jefferson residence. An investigation was initiated.
Tuesday, Jan. 14: At 8:37 am a resident spoke with an officer about identity theft. Her Verizon account information had been accessed and tampered with. At 6:35 Tammy McCoy reported striking a utility pole in the parking lot at the Greene County Community Center. McCoy’s 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage. At a result of a complaint received 01/13 at a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St warrants have been issued charging Frederick James Lonsdale, 40, of Jefferson with harassment-first degree, harassment-third degree, criminal mischief-fourth degree and trespass-simple.* An additional charge of theft-second degree has been filed against Tobi Ann Baker, 45, of Jefferson in connection with her use of a vehicle on 01/10.* A warrant had initially been issued charging her with operation without owner’s consent. Charges have been filed in juvenile court charging Justin Ray Lopez, 15, of Jefferson with harassment-first degree. The charge supplements an original charge of trespass-simple from an incident on 01/09 at a residence in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Way.
Monday, Jan 13: At 3:30 pm an officer investigated a traffic collision at S. Olive and E. Garfield St. David Schrunk was westbound on Garfield. Steven Molle was northbound on Olive. Their vehicles collided in the intersection. Molle was cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. Damage to his 1998 Plymouth Neon was estimated at $1,000. Damage to Schrunk’s 1997 Chevrolet Lumina was estimated at $2,500. At 6 pm a resident reported the theft of packages delivered at a home in the 600 block of S. Oak in late December while the complainant was out of town. An investigation was initiated and a suspect has been identified. Charges are pending. At 6:39 pm a complainant in the 400 block of N. Olive reported a domestic disturbance. A known male had come to the residence and damaged a door and a window. Charges are pending. Pursuant to a complaint received 01/10 in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road, a warrant has been issued charging Tobi Ann Baker, 45, of Jefferson with operation without owner’s consent.*
Sunday, Jan. 12: At 4:11 pm a complainant reported the theft of utilities by a tenant of a residence in the 300 block of N. Olive St. An investigation has been initiated.
Saturday, Jan. 11: At 4:18 pm a complainant reported the theft of parts from a vehicle in the 1000 block of N. Cedar St.
Friday, Jan. 10: At 11:24 am while at a court hearing an officer observed an intoxicated female at the courthouse. The officer arrested Melissa Sanem, 30, of Churdan for public intoxication-first offense.* At 3:40 pm a complainant reported an assault that occurred at Greene County High School. Jamie Theulen, 17, of Scranton was charged with assault-simple and was referred to Juvenile Court Services.* At 4 pm a complainant reported she had lent her vehicle to a female who would not return it. The officer contacted the female and gave her the opportunity to return the vehicle to its rightful owner. The vehicle was not returned and the female would not tell the complainant where the vehicle was located. Charges are pending.
Thursday, Jan. 9: At 1:55 am a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Way. As a result, Justin Lopez, 15, of Jefferson was cited for a curfew violation and was charged with trespass-simple.* Lopez has been referred to Juvenile Court Services on that charge. At 9:41 am the city building inspector reported a burglary to an uninhabited property in the 400 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 3:12 pm a complainant reported seeing a fox in the 700 block of W. Washington St. At 5:15 pm Dollar General reported a theft from the store by a customer. An investigation was initiated.
Wednesday, Jan. 8: At 9:59 am a traffic stop at N. Locust and E. Washington resulted in an officer arresting Amanda Rohan, 31, of Jefferson for driving while barred*. She was also cited for failure to have insurance. At 1:42 pm a complainant in the 400 block of N. Olive St reported a domestic abuse-assault. The incident remains under investigation. At 6:06 pm an officer and the fire department were requested at Casey’s (N. Elm) for a gas spill. An investigation was initiated into the person responsible.

Monday, Jan. 6: At 8 am a resident reported a phone scam. At 2:56 pm an officer assisted a mother whose 16-year-old daughter had left home without permission. A deputy located the girl at a home in Grand Junction and returned her home.
Sunday, Jan. 5: At 9:35 am a complainant reported a missing 15-year-old male. An officer learned the boy and a female were given a ride to Des Moines by other teenagers and dropped off at a residence there. The missing teenagers were not immediately located. At 5:44 pm a complainant reported the theft of a handgun from a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Way.
Saturday, Jan. 4: At 8:37 a complainant reported the theft of batteries from a residence in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St. At 11:30 pm an officer was asked to assist a Greene County deputy in the 1300 block of 340th St in Washington Township is looking for a stolen vehicle and a male threatening to harm himself.
Friday, Jan. 3: At 12:30 pm an officer was requested at Dollar General and subsequently arrested Shane Austin Smith, 20, and Nicole Victoria Thompson, 18, both of Jefferson for theft-fifth degree.* At 12:46 pm Pizza Ranch reported receiving forged checks written on a closed account. An investigation has been initiated. At 3:17 pm Dollar General requested an officer for a shoplifter who had allegedly assaulted an employee. Daniel Lynn Schofield, 27, of Jefferson was arrested and charged with aggravated theft.* At 7:17 pm a complainant reported a male revving a car engine in the 300 block of N. Wilson. The officer’s investigation led him to arrest David Troy Upchurch, 36, of Jefferson for OWI-second offense and disorderly conduct.* Upchurch was also cited for defective or unauthorized muffler system and failure to have a valid license. At 7:34 pm Sharon Kinnan reported a hit and run collision in the 100 block of E. Clark St. Her parked 2009 GMC had been struck by a silver 1990s minivan. The minivan left the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
Thursday, Jan. 2: At 8:32 am a complainant reported a trespass in the 1100 block of McDuffie Drive. At 2:13 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle window in the 300 block of W. Washington St. One citation was issued in the downtown area for violation of the snow ordinance.
Wednesday, Jan. 1: At 2:12 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a window at Excuses at 300 N. Elm St. The window had been shot with a BB gun. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
